An optimum location of on-grid bifacial based photovoltaic system in Iraq

Bifacial photovoltaic (PV) module can gain 30% more energy compared to monofacial if a suitable location were chosen. Iraq (a Middle East country) has variable irradiation level according its geographic coordinates, thus, the performance of PV systems differs. This paper an array (17 series, 13 parallel) was chosen produce 100 kWp for on-grid system. It investigates system in three cities (Mosul, Baghdad, and Basrah). Effect albedo factor, high pitch bifacial on yield have been studied using PVsyst (software). found that effect is less greater than 6 m. The gained from these shows Mosul most installing both followed by Baghdad lastly Basrah. However, Basrah, 12% higher as there other locations, especially elevation above 1.5 Moreover, cost 7.23% monofacial, but this additional acceptable since about 11.3% monofacial.
